Good to know. Hopefully the K tracks will come out for Wii.

About the "Bright Yellow Gun" thing, I realized that you probably can't do that, as K's old label must own all those old Muses songs. But, if you or someone else involved with K still did want to do some older songs, maybe you could contact some bastard representative from the music corporation and say "hey, we'll give you a free cut if you let us make use of the song that we ourselves wrote?" Maybe they will go for that. :)

I only have Guitar Hero: World Tour for the Wii, I've yet to buy a Rock Band but this will likely make me buy it

TurboC: if you are getting any Rock Band game for the Wii, Rock Band 2 allows you to get downloadable tracks and that should in turn allow you to get the Kristin tracks as and when they're released. Also, RB2 on Wii will also let you use your Guitar Hero guitar as well so you'll be able to use that instrument and not have to fork out for more gear.

Someone please keep us up to date as to which systems this is available for. I only have Guitar Hero: World Tour for the Wii, I've yet to buy a Rock Band but this will likely make me buy it, depending what system is best. This is the kind of thing Rock Band should have had from the beginning, nice to see it finally happening.

How about some classic muses tracks next? Bright Yellow Gun anyone?

A Belly reunion would be cool- even if only to put out an EP of songs that were left unfinished at the time; probably won't happen, I just hate to see people not getting along.

If there's one band I'd like to see re-form it's The Sugarcubes. Bjork has had some good solo songs but I think the 'cubes had something special together (though I could do w/out the male vocalist).

(I haven't seen many "Friends" episodes but that's how I feel about "Roseanne"-I stopped paying attention after Darlene's wedding to David. Things got too wierd and it stopped being funny.)

Not meaning to harp on about this, but I just wanted to point out for those not familiar with the issues that the closure isn't proposed because the station is performing badly, quite the opposite. They've increased listeners significantly every year without major marketing and despite being digital only and have won numerous awards for the different shows. The closure is a reaction to a trust report which suggests the BBC needs to contract a little and focus its efforts, which makes it all the more aggravating seeing as the station really does represent quality over quantity.

David Bowie and Lily Allen are amongst stars who've added their support.

Amusingly, the link below has a little bar chart which shows Kristin's records are played twice as much on BBC 6music as any other BBC station!

Xander - I found your comment amusing, and yes, I'd love to see Belly reform if only for a concert or online release or something. There never was too much exposed about the reasons for the break up and I like to think there weren't bitter rows. I think Chris mentioned he'd be up for it once but I think Tanya is too settled in things to need to/want to go back. Plus, in a way, I like the fact they left things at a good time, it'd be awful if they ended up dissolving because the music ended up getting a bit tripey. Vaguely similar (but not) in that I think Friends went on a bit too much and I lost interest after series 45; it's always good if you're left wanting more.
Rugan - Whisky Tango is my favourite Tanya album! Has a real classic dusty old record feel to it with robust songs.

What I would love to see is a full band touring 'Crooked'. Dunno if such a thing would be feasible... it would involve enlisting the services of a second guitarist for starters. But, oh boy, those songs could tear the place up in a live arrangement!

Oh, geez. Billy, I hope this doesn't hit her too hard. She's had more than enough pain to deal with lately.

Selfishly, I'm left thinking, "What if?", as that's a pairing I'd readily have used frequent flier miles to come and see. Sigh.

Ironically, I learned this morning that "Dark Night of the Soul" finally IS going to be released. Nice timing, record company execs.

What is happening here? Mark Linkous... He and Kristin are the 2 artists I have been carrying around my whole life, very near to my heart. I feel nauseous, this hurts. Vivadixie is still one of my favorite records of all time.
He supposed to had almost finished his latest, and turns out to by, last album...
All the best to his family.

Fingers crossed indeed. Might even give me an incentive to get Rock Band 2 on the Wii, as the downloadable stuff is generally only available for RB on that format.

Let's just hope for a Wii release - after all, the note tracking and all stuff like that is done (and it's difficult to do because of all the difficulty levels you've got to do for each instrument!) so kudos to ethicalpaul for that.

Forgive me for the off-topic post, guys, but I figured there was some relevance here via the Vic connection. Plus, I know there are fans of the man here...

I'm in utter shock and horribly sad after arriving home tonight to read this on Facebook:

Sparklehorse From the Linkous Family: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member, Mark Linkous, took his own life today. We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. There’s a heaven and there’s a star for you."

Some of you may recall that for years, I've expressed a dream that Kristin would one day work with Mark. So many other artists with a similar vibe and approach to music had worked with Mark, of whom I was a HUGE fan, I thought it would be natural fit.

Perhaps the most disturbing thing is that Spaklehorse's final home page was a link to K's CASH page with her memories of and fundraising efforts for the family of Vic, who sang on Sparklehorse's last album, "Dark Night of the Soul" (a collaboration with Danger Mouse and David Lynch, with numerous guest vocalists), as well as the 2001 release (ironically titled, in retrospect), "It's a Wonderful Life." Just two weeks ago, I watched Suzanne Vega perform her contribution to "Dark Night" live. It was magical.

I feel like crying right now. Another gifted musician with a tragic story behind him—he actually died in 1996 of a drug overdose and was brought back to life but left temporarily crippled—who apparently didn't feel equipped to handle life on this planet, lost. If you're so inclined, there's more info here:

http://tinyurl.com/yduleb9

And to hear the album which Vic appeared on, "Dark Night of the Soul"—an album that rather criminally will never be released due to contract disputes—you can legally listen to it on NPR's web site (or email me for a download link):

http://tinyurl.com/qa5n88

Ok, we broke out the Rock Band tonight (we hadn't actually played since we did a full-band Endless Setlist back when we lived in Portland- almost 2 years ago!)

I drummed the hell out of Fortune and Mississippi Kite, and now that I've played them, they rock even more than I could've predicted! So kudos, Paul!

A more appropriate topic would perhaps have been the problem with "kristin Hersh" ...Hope the topic didn't offend anyone

I still wish that kristin would have commercial success... i still don't understand why this is not happening... or maybe i do....kristins solo albums are good...throwing muses latest album is good...50 foot wave albums/eps are good.

Good in the sense that i could play it for friends and they will say: "sounds good, but not astonishing"...And i agree.... Kristin only becomes astonishing when you merge these three together. They balance each other in a very sophisticated way I think.

Therefore i wish that a future throwing muses album would merge all three of these ingredients. Therefore i wish that a future throwing muses album would include opiates and slippershell…..And with Milan sounding like another “Your ghost”, another Throwing muses album could become a mini massive commercial success.

This song is really something out of the ordinary... I listened three or maybe four time to it and thought: hmmmm, this is a decent song i hope they make something great out of it. Then i switched back to listening to Bryan Adams.

But this stupied song came back to me a couple of days later while walking to work. Now i cant't let it go. the song is very synchronized with my brainbeat and now i can't let it go.

to me Milan sounds very much like Your Ghost pt II.

I have no idea how the lyrics actually go, but "baptize a bit" is my new guiding words of wisdom

I'm really digging Milan.

Kristin's using a different voice (more growly and a lower register) and it's quite moving.

aww thanks everyone! It has seriously been the most intense and rewarding geek-out project I have ever worked on.

That article is very accurate, it's just like he says (well except I have proven you don't HAVE to be a pro)!

I do want to do more of them, but power+light is out at least as a single entity--there is a 10 minute limit per song. Other issues can also come up, such as power+light kicking my ass if I tried to deconstruct it :)
