I'll be at a few of these gigs and thought I'd start a new post to try to organise some pre-gig meet-ups. Please come along - it would be great to meet some new faces, as well as a few familiar ones!
Feel free to add suggestions to this post (I've only put suggestions for the gigs I'm going to and this is all done by searching on the internet, people with local knowledge may be able to suggest someplace better).

1 ENGLAND – BEXHILL – DE LA WARR PAVILION -
2 ENGLAND – LONDON – SHEPHERDS BUSH EMPIRE - http://defectors-weld.com/
3 ENGLAND – NORWICH – UNIVERSITY OF EAST ANGLIA - the only place nearby looks to be the Student Union - can anyone local suggest anywhere, or is the Student Union a good place to meet?
4 ENGLAND – HOLMFIRTH – PICTUREDROME - not a big choice here, the Nook Brewhouse looks nearest, has real ales and serves food too.
6 ENGLAND – MANCHESTER – ACADEMY 2 - Big Hands, 296 Oxford Road is next door to the venue and has been used for a few Kristin gig meet ups in the past.
7 SCOTLAND – GLASGOW – ORAN MOR
8 WALES – CARDIFF – THE GATE
9 IRELAND – CORK – CYPRUS AVE
10 IRELAND – DUBLIN – ACADEMY

Hope to see some of you soon!

If there is anyone out there looking for a couple free tickets for the Shepherd's Bush gig, please let me know as I have two tickets that I can't use (due to circumstances beyond my control).
Needless to say I'm absolutely gutted that I can't get to this show, but I don't want my tickets to go to waste.

Throwing Muses is one of my...well actually that's pretty self explanatory. I've tried searching through all my local music stores looking for all the throwing muses CDs, and as painstaking that was I managed to find them. My birthdays on september 7th, so when I found that there was going to be an anthology two days before it I knew I was going to get one, even with a limited release. I found out that the anthology is only to be in the uk, which I fear might make it very difficult to order. My questions may be stupid but I figure stupid questions can still get answers, so my Qs are: 1.) can you preorder a cd, even in America (specifically Indiana)? 2.) Is there a specific number of copies, being it limited and all? 3.) I really, really loved Rat Girl (okay that wasn't a question but still) and 4.) is it even possible for an American to buy a copy on line (again, stupid question, but I wanna make sure). This entry is really late, but hopefully there are some answers. Love Throwing Muses, and I can't imagine a birthday without them :) and also HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, KRISTIN! Sorry, I had to do that

Had the pleasure of interviewing SF author ALastair Reynolds a few weeks back for a podcast and we talked about not just his writing but also his musical interests. First time I ever visited his website he'd mentioned listening to TM so inevitably we talked a little bit about Kristin and the Muses. He said something like 'in any fair universe, Kristin would be bigger than Lady Gaga"!

He didn't pick any Muses but his thoughts on Kristin are in part 2 of the podcast here:

Hello Kristen or Billy or whomever gets this,

And by the way, sorry if I sent this twice by accident.

Grear show in Cambridge a couple weeks ago.

Anyway, I used to have a rear window sticker that read:
"Throwing Muses University" on my old car.

It looked just the "University of Mass Lowell" sticker that I got when I went there.

I just got a Jeep, and would gladly pay for a few of these stickers,
if they still exist.

If someone would be kind enough to respond to (transthermal@yahoo.com),
on how I could obtain some of these, I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks also for years of service to my ears,

All,

Someone asked me to repost this to Dime, which turned out to be too difficult for me. Therefore, I loaded it to the Live Music Archive.

Very little info about this, German radio interview - I believe to be March 30/31 1991 just based upon the songs coming from Real Ramona and the Muses tour dates that year.

If anyone has more info, please feel free to share.

I originally snatched from Beestung.

Cut n' paste for Muses-relevant content: "While Spiritualized's climactic freakout achieves the desired lift-off, it's dwarfed by the disciplinary savagery of Throwing Muses, who remain unique, inimitable and therefore entirely justified in their return to action. Kristin Hersh sings and plays with the swagger of a bluesman, her features contorting as she constructs a furiously aggressive folk rock galvanized by the sturdy yet flexible rhythmic undertow of drummer David Narcizo and bassist Bernard Georges. In terms of intensity and power, The Muses prove quite a match for Sunn O))), playing simultaneously on the ATP stage." —Joseph Stannard

I googled "throwing muses same sun lyrics" for quoting purposes (what can I say, my memory's shit), and I got this result:
Throwing Muses

In response to a complaint we have received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed a result from this page.

Looks like lyric sites are hitting hard times right now.

I obviously don't think that KH or anyone representing her would ask for lyrics to be taken down from a website. I suppose they do it preventively to avoid prosecution and add them only if it's been proved "safe"?

An interesting related read: "Why I Copyfight" by Cory Doctorow.
