But I hope you won't mind. As soon as possible, I intend to get the entire show authored for DVD and shared among those who are interested in a copy, along with offering the raw files once I find an appropriate way of hosting them. The footage was shot from the second row to mini DV with a tripod, and while I didn't use an external microphone, the sound is still pretty decent since it was a quiet acoustic show. It's sad that we're using this occasion to share, and I wish I'd done my part sooner, as I'd intended to for years. Been a fan since I heard the "Sweet Relief" compilation - bought all his albums, seen him live several times, and had the good fortune to meet him at the Union Chapel in London a few years ago - where we discussed the possibility of a future UK double header with Kristin - which tragically never happened. It saddens me of his passing, and it angers me that someone of his immense talent is taken away from us. It's also an irony (that Vic would probably have pointed out long before I did) that a man who passionately advocated the idea of atheism ended up dying on Christmas Day. Some of his lyrics could be the funniest imaginable - "Vesuvius" from "Ghetto Bells" is a case in point. Let's hope that in death, Vic is finally recognised by a mass audience as one of the most innovative lyricists ever produced - it's a tragedy that he did not get worldwide acclaim alongside the likes of Cohen et al whilst he was still alive. My heart goes out to everyone that knew Vic or was touched by his music. I saw him for the first time in June, supporting Jonathan Richman. I admire how he could find humor in such dark subjects. It still annoys me that manufactured artists can have success while people like Vic and Kristin are largely ignored. Still, the few that do appreciate such art, really do love what you do. RIP Vic :(
