  1. Never done anything quite like this, so by the end was pretty shattered – having a desk job, I’m not used to the travelling (900 miles?) and standing for several hours every night is hard work :o) Am way too old for such behaviour, but it was bloody good fun. Knowing it would be basically the same set every night was initially a worry, but it was great - the upside is songs like “Vicky’s Box” 5 times!! My favourite band for 25 years, and counting!

Pretty much every night we were able to meet up with old friends, and a few new ones as well. So many lovely people – not naming names as I’ll forget somebody, but I’ll single out Owen, Andrew & Anita – thanks! Wouldn’t have been the same without you :o)

PS. Seeing a few shows without Billy there is quite weird!

  2. Good job you're not in a touring band, Alistair :)

I couldn't do it either, even if I could play, I admire TM for their stamina as well as their creativity and musicianship.

  3. Really good meeting you Alistair and all the others at O'Neill's - even if I did only manage a wimpish one gig at Shepherd's Bush. What a a gig mind you :-)

  4. thanks for letting me tag along with your merry troupe :)
the band were magnificent, and only made me wish i had joined the full adventure...

and it was an honour and a privilege to listen to david talking technique in the pub afterwards

    truly a night to remember

  5. I did 6 gigs in 7 nights once :-) (not all the same band, but I spanned the country a fair bit...)

  6. Alistair,
I don't know how I missed you at both Holmfirth and Manchester?
    I can't match your 6 in 7 days but I'm doing 4 in 8; although one is a K solo gig
    2 down 2 to go

    Mike

  7. Jealous of those of you who have managed more than my meagre two dates. My thoughts on Bexhill and Shepherd's Bush here. It would be great if any of you would like to finish the story and let me have your accounts of Norwich, Holmfirth, Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff. And if any of you have pictures you would let me post, please do. I can just about make a call on my phone; haven't mastered the camera yet!

  8. @The Door

    that is excellent, thanks.

  9. I saw KH 4 times in 8 days on the 2007 solo tour, but all of the venues were fairly local to me. Because of the disparate locations (and financial constraints) I could only get to Shepherd's Bush this time :(

  10. I managed to do 4 of the gigs and thoroughly enjoyed it, travelling round the country with Anita, Alistair & Owen was great fun. Just want to echo what Alistair said, meeting old and new faces each night was great, it feels like we're one big community & I hope there's another tour next year so we can do it all again!

A big congrats to Anita for coming on her own all the way from California to do the tour, having never been to the UK before & finding that in the UK we don't speak exactly the same language as you guys in the States.

Random memories I will hold on to: "How many is a donkey?", Tears to "Hate My Way", Sunday lunch at Prashad, Salford Lads Club & Anita's shopping spree in Haworth. Oh, and meeting Dave & Vicki! ;)

  11. @The Door - lovely reviews, and many shared feelings, especially a sense of how precious these gigs are. (I only managed London.) Thanks!

  12. It was great to meet all the other Strangels in Norwich! I see Racheal now and then but it was great to meet Andrew, Alistair Owen and Anita, oh and to shake hands with Dave!

Loved the gig, gutted we didn't hear Mania and felt bad that the venue wasn't full, but we did our best to promote :)

The sound, the playing and K's voice were all amazing, it was my first ever TM gig and my partner's second after '92.

My partner bumped into an old friend he had not seen for 12 years, they'd been to see the '92 gig together and it had been their first live gig! This friend had driven from Suffolk to see this show.

I filmed Pearl, one of my favourite tracks ever, but I got my little camera the wrong way round - I turn it round after a minute!
