  1. Now that Crooked is officially available, does anybody have any advice on how to re-title/tag previous versions of these songs within iTunes (or whatever)? I have most of these tracks in my library 3 times now and would like to differentiate each version.

Is "Demo Version" the appropriate tag for the Speedbath tracks? Or maybe "Early Version"?

Just curious what others are doing...

  2. I have them differentiated by album title. Crooked Beginnings, Crooked Remainders, speedbath, etc.

  3. I'm appending (demo) to the older tracks.

  4. Like Pirate poet I organize everything into albums. I try to keep my itunes organized just like my cd's.

  5. Yes, I have my collection organized by album too, but I tend to 'shuffle play' a lot and was curious to know if anyone else had renamed tracks to properly identify each one. I also use last.fm (http://www.last.fm/user/Hunkpapa) but post track-based data only.

So for example, I had thought about doing this to the 3 different versions of "Slippershell" currently in my library:

    "Slippershell"
    "Slippershell (Remainders Version)"
    "Slippershell (Demo Version)"

    Any other thoughts?

  6. Well, this situation really doesn't arise too often. We really have an embarrassment of riches with this project. How often do fans get access to multiple demo versions of tracks?

Jaysen, I view the Remainders versions as the "definitive" versions of these tracks. They're studio-recorded and referred to on the website as final versions. So, I made the Remainders version "Slippershell" and the other two will be "Slippershell (demo)" or some variation thereof. I may separate them out like the bedroom demos we got a few years ago in the WIP tracks.

Is it just us last.fm-ers that obsess this much about track titles?

  7. Nah, I don't use last.fm, but I'm really OCD when it comes to cataloging my music, lol.

  8. i dunno. it's still *slippershell* to me, regardless of which version it is. and i say that as a last.fm user who is curious about stats too -- i guess i jsut don't take it to that level.
