  1. I am not going to ramble too long. I will say this was as intense a TM performance as I have seen. Kristin is possessed by these songs and performs them like they are new born. Dave drums(dolphins), Bernie grooves(fluidity) & all is right with the world for 75 - 80 minutes.

We were treated to the solitary Peggy Sue support slot as they are off to New York tomorrow to promote their 2nd album, Acrobats, on Wichita recordings. I say this because they were an unexpectedly great support. Think Warpaint, Sleater-Kinney...... produced by John Parish.

    TM set as follows

    Soul Soldier
    Devil's Roof
    Shimmer
    Start
    Garoux des Larmes
    Speed and Sleep
    Bright Yellow Gun
    Shark
    Mexican Women
    Hazing
    Tar Kissers
    Limbo
    Furious
    Vicky's Box
    Bea
    -
    Pearl
    Mania
    -
    White Bikini Sand

performed at a blistering pace, barely a breath between songs.

Expectations met. (tee is cool, flash drive the same)

    Shepherds Bush tomorrow :)

  2. if someone videotapes White Bikini Sand I will love you forever.

  3. okay, tine may stalk you, sadly my phone is a bit poo.

I will see if one of my iphone carrying offspring can manage it

  4. Nearly forgot one of the most important bits, after all our stressing. Good turnout, perhaps 450 - 500 ! Quite a large hall and plenty of room to spare but appreciative, rapturous at times, reception.

    Thank you Bexhill :)

  5. Sounds excellent ~ not long to Holmfirth; as my daughter would say "Just two sleeps!"

  6. Set list looking great, I'm so pleased the audience is getting bigger. Holmfirth can't come quick enough!

  7. Can't sleep too excited.... TM in two days and just found out Hope Sandoval is recording with Mazzy Star again. Album 2012.

  8. so pleased for the good crowd

  9. That seems a very high estimate to me. I would have said it was lower.

  10. Well...there were 400 tix sold in advance...so 450-500 seems fair.

  11. I really struggled to guage the audience, bearing in my mind the size of the hall, so I'm amazed I was as accurate as Billy suggests.

They were more than the sum of their parts though :)

  12. The Picturedrome in Holmfirth has a capacity of 500. It is right between two major conurbations, but is a bit off the beaten track, as it were. I live up on a hill not far out of Holmfirth and sometimes it isn't difficult to imagine that I am in the middle of nowhere. To be honest, I couldn't believe it when I found out TM are playing the Picturedrome. Having been a fan since I was 14-15 (33 now) and never having seen the band perform, it just seems bizarre and wonderful that you guys are playing a venue right on my doorstep... In the middle of nowhere... But no, really, the town is well connected, the venue has only become more successful over the past few years... Fingers crossed for a good turnout!

  13. Billy, it's great to hear that sales are doing well. Do you know how many advance tickets were sold in London? It was certainly a little more cosy. It is entirely possible that I am losing it with increasing age, but I would have put my house on there being fewer than 400 at Bexhill. I think it's great the band are playing some more out of the way places, just gutted I can't make any more dates. Holmfirth, you'll have a blast. Just hope there's another tour to enjoy soon.

  14. Taken me a few days to be able to face reading this thread. Missing the Bexhill gig was very painful for me, but I guess that's the price you pay for emigrating to non-TM-friendly parts of the world (Dubai, in my case).

I grew up in Bexhill. From age 6 to 18. I even used to work backstage at the De La Warr Pavilion in my summer holidays.

And then – when I left, went to university and turned 19 – I discovered Throwing Muses, the biggest musical passion of my life.

So you could say the two both played really big parts in my life, and seeing THEM play THERE would have been an incredibly nostalgic and moving event for me. Absolutely gutted to have been unable to go.

Glad it went well though, and folk had a good time.

  15. I just re-read the set list. Those first five songs--my God! I could hardly imagine a more perfect sequence. Since I wasn't there, 'tis bittersweet.

  16. Roger, I believe we talked about this years ago....
Was in Bexhill from age 10-19, and returned in the Uni holidays. My first few plays of the debut album were in my bedroom, no more than 50 yards from the DLWP. Was pretty stunned seeing they were to play there, but I was lucky enough to return once more :)
