  1. I'm dying to hear the new song (for lack of a better term...)

Any idea when it will be available?

  2. hear hear!

  3. <update>
We've been waiting for Kristin's CASH series to conclude, which it will now do at the end of this month. While she's busy preparing the commercial release of Speedbath we'll get busy rolling out the new "Fitty" stuff.

We're planning the release of (working title) Power + Light to include a release in 4 colors of vinyl along with the usual free downloads, offered of course in "lossy" as well as lossless formats.

In the meantime, we're planning an audio stream of the record in it's entirety for the not-too-distant future.

  4. Sounds like a reason to come play a show in our new Power and Light District!!!

  5. That sounds great!

I'm really looking forward to it.

  6. "4 colors of vinyl"

Hurrah! So I'll have to save some money already then ;)

  7. vinyl AND free downloads! wow you guys really spoil us! cannot wait

  8. hey, speaking of free downloads, i see that Free Music is available on amazon.com in exchange for money. is this sanctioned or is somebody wrongly exploiting 5FW's work? i could see the material being made available both for free and for pay...i just want to make sure it's being made so by Kristin et al., and not by...people who shouldn't be doing that.

it's ironic, to say the least, to see a page that says, Free Music; Price: $4.95.

  9. This is an undesirable side-effect of the Free Music Ep being released as a CD. It's kind of stupid the way this has happened.

The very same material is, and always will be available free of charge...I don't necessarily endorse the downloads being sold, but am not equipped to prohibit it either, due to the complexity of the business structure that was put in place when the CD was manufactured. That won't happen again.

  10. Edit: never mind :)

  11. Free Music was released as a CD? Where have I been?

  12. @ska4me: Yeah...3 or 4 months after the Ep had been available (and widely circulated) as a free download we decided to allow the manufacture of the CD - to satisfy pretty fair demand for "hard goods".

We insisted it be called "Free Music" even though the retailers thought it'd be confusing and lead to problems with customers, and we struck a simple, no-advance deal with a friend's company, called Reincarnate to press and distribute the Ep at a special price, through Sony/BMG. They sold more than 5,000 copies of a CD that could be (and had been) downloaded, free, for more than 6 months. Crazy world.

By the way, the Free Music Ep has been downloaded more than 2 million times by now. Well over 1 million times through eMule alone - (check out the Top Releases chart in the left margin)!

  13. Wow!

    Two million downloads?! That's incredible!

Hopefully they'll all seek out Kristin's solo and TM work.

  14. Sooner or later I need to pick up one of those CD-fied Free Musics from the TMO store. I'm crazy like that.

  15. This post is making me itchy, like i'm going to scratch my skin off from the frustration of wanting to SEE 50 FOOT WAVE LIVE!

    AHHHHHHH!

Sorry, had to get that out... I love this band so much it hurts...
looking forward to 'Power+Light' what a great title, that's what this band is to me.

  16. not to detract or distract from f.p.o.f.'s very vivid and well-deserved homage to 50FOOTWAVE, but i have one more question about the whole "Free Music for money" thing: if i may ask, do you guys get royalties when those CDs are sold? i certainly hope so...

  17. Hey, fifteen: Watch Wild Vanilla, as I hope very soon--maybe this week, but no promises--to post video of a never-before-shared 50 Foot Wave show from San Francisco a few years back. Shot VERY close, on tripod. I've not watched it since, but I remember it coming out rather nicely. Just in case that would be of interest to you as a "next best thing" to seeing them live.

  18. @plaintiger: Not to worry...the band does earn an appropriate royalty on the sale of those CDs. As I said, it was a friend's company! ;)

  19. Thanks Scott! That's calmed the itch a bit. I would LOVE to watch and listen to this footage, sounds awesome! Anything and everything 50ft is of interest to me...
    Cheers!

  20. mmmmm colored vinyl. NOM NOM NOM. yummy

  21. yay for the band's royalties! :)

soooooo...where should we look for the Love Guitar video, when it's time to look for it? Wild Vanilla?

not that i'm in a hurry or anything...*itch itch*...
