I received an e-mail from Amazon UK this morning that my copy has been dispatched! Yay!
Ditto; Amazon UK have just confirmed that mine has been dispatched
our HMV store order arrived today with £10 retail price and 8/07/10 release date and looks lovely it must be said.
Mine is actually in transit in Brussels... Hope I'll get it home tomorrow just before leaving on holiday... Can't wait anymore!!!
Don't forget also, as K has reminded me on Twitter...
"those digital Eps are part of the Crooked bonus materials...they'll be available later this week to Strangels & people with the Crooked book"
I got mine from Amazon.co.uk today - is really cool.
Thanks everyone, glad you are so excited and looking forward to the book.
UK branches of Waterstone's and HMV have their stock in right now.
All UK-based internet retailers will also have it now.
Cheapest I have seen it so far is £9.08 from The Book Depository:
http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9780007371860/Crooked
They also offer international shipping for free so may be the best option for fans outside of the UK.
Amazon US are currently showing a Sep 1st release date but they should have stock long before then and we are trying to get them to change that date.
Amazon Canada have an Aug 6 release date which sounds about right.
Any questions about availability etc. feel free to post them here and I will do my best to find out answers (I am the publisher, by the way!)
Well then yay for wildsheep!
Wow, just been to the Strange Angels Page - new Crooked downloads everywhere - brilliant!
Ordered from the Book Depository earlier today - free shipping to the US - great deal!
Can't wait for it to arrive!
also ordered from Book Depository today - for shipping to the US - thanks for heads up Billy!
I got the book yesterday. The book itself is beautiful and the music is too! Only one small glitch, when I downloaded all the music there was cover art and artist and album details for Crooked the album and Crooked Beginnings (EP)but when I tried to put the Crooked Remainders (EP) on my ipod only the song titles showed. Does anyone know if this will be fixed as I can't seem to be able to manually insert the details?
Raindog
I had a few glitches with the downloads; I couldn't get the front cover art to open, something about the file type not being supported; although strangely the back covers are fine.
Also, I put everything on my iPod last night to play at work today, most was fine, but the Crooked Beginning's version of Slippershell won't play. Now it could be a transfer problem, so I'll try again tonight.
Mike
Altfish, the "Beginnings" version of Slippershell plays fine on my iPod, so I suggest you try again!
The artwork and info has now been added to the Crooked Remainders (EP) mp3's!
Was just going to tell you there was a glitch...but that it was repaired yesterday afternoon. Thank you for being persistent! xo
Does anyone know if the Beginnings and Remainders songs are the as what were made available to us awhile ago as the Speedbath demos? In some respect, I'm kinda hoping they are, since I am running out of room on my iPod!
- D.
Hi Dim,
As you can read it on the Crooked page before the credits:
"...the ‘Remainders’ EP — finished tracks that didn't make the album, the ‘Beginnings’ EP — early demos that have been newly mixed and mastered..."
I heard the 2 EP's several times and the differences are sometimes obvious as for "Around Dusk" containing here a real drums part and a reworked voice one (at least in its "steamier" effect)...
I think perhaps there are 3 "stages" in these songs: basic demos, studio recordings and finally reworked studio recordings "ready to be burn"...
Perhaps Billy could explain it better than me (I'm not professional) or tell me I'm wrong about this...
Anyway I think you must make some place to take advantage of these gems!
Hope it helps...
Laurent
Appreciate the guidance! Off downloading I go...
Hey Dim...
No, these Ep versions are all different than the original CASH versions.
In the case of Remainders, all the songs were recorded, mixed and mastered along with the other final Crooked tracks and simply removed from the sequence at the last minute to make a sequence that would fit, in-tact on a vinyl release without diminishing sound quality.
In the case of Beginnings...some songs received additional recording, all newly mixed & mastered by TW Walsh of Pedro The Lion (who also played drums on Around Dusk)...
Cool? Sorry about the iPod!
Heck, it was time I upgraded to the 160 gigger anyway! This gives me a great excuse to do that sooner rather than later. Thanks for all the tunes, B+K!
xo,
D.
PS. I'm actually quite thrilled these versions are different, despite my earlier post. While I was lamenting that my iPod is woefully inadequate to accommodate everything I want to put on there, I'll always find room for anything K gives us!
"All UK-based internet retailers will also have it now."
I have had a copy on order with HMV.com since about April :) For the last few days they have been 'awaiting supplies' or something, now it's 'on special order with our suppliers'. Temptation to cancel & go shopping is strong.
I got an email from HMV this morning saying mine had been dispatched, so hopefully will have it by weekend. Anyone who pre-ordered it should have had theirs dispatched today (fingers crossed)
Their website now says "shipping in 24 hours" so I guess their stock must have come in!
Mine arrived today.
A beautiful thing it is too.
Bought this morning at HMV, excellent yet again. Keep knocking them out and I'll keep listening. First saw Throwing Muses supporting The Cocteau Twins at The Kentish Town and Country Club back in 87 (at least I think it was 87), been a great journey so far.
My Amazon UK pre-order has arrived here in San Francisco.
Looks dead gorgeous! Off to dive in :-)
So good to hear from you guys...Kristin just smiles ear to ear as we're reading through these comments. Thank you.
Mine came from the Book Depository yesterday, it's so beautiful! I'm loving the essays and artwork x
mine arrived in Barcelona early this week from Amazon, and all i can say is that the book is really beautiful and that i love the album as a whole. the truth is that it took me a few listens to get used to the new drum tracks -demoitis, i think they call it- but wow, "Coals" and "Krait" really benefit from them. "Flooding"... now that we have a definitive version, i must say again that it's one of Kristin's best from her whole catalogue.
as for the eps, i've listened to "Beginnings" a lot, i love the punchier new mixes of the songs (the original drum part on "Slippershell" is still addictive). also, "Static" is now an absolute favourite.
i don't know i... just love it.
My TWO copies arrived promptly on monday.
A pre-ordered copy from HMV and one ordered in a haze of excitement last week, when I thought I was missing out.
I couldn't find anything on my bank statements for the first one and didn't receive a despatch note, so I jumped in thinking I must have imagined it.
I now have 2 beautiful copies of this gorgeous item. All I have to do is decide who I should gift one to.........
