  1. Firstly, I'm super psyched to have been holidaying in the UK when this came out, so could get the book from the shop, rather than getting it sent to Sydney! Plus finding out Kristin is going to be in Ireland next week, which I hadn't even thought about checking *face/palm* because I was so focused on Oz shows.

    I'm one lucky little pixie.

Tiny question though: are their excerpts from PU/rat girl on the download page, that I'm just missing in my sugar-rush style high? or are they being held back to prevent site implosion from the giddy hordes?

  2. stolen from "crooked update" string

we've been awaiting final clearances from the publishers...there was a last-minute misunderstanding about the number of pages we could share...so we wait...hopefully soon. sorry for the delay...

  3. The Crookeddescription on Amazon.com (US) matches the book, but if I order all three new products from there, am I really going to get the book or just the CD? The price seems low for what I assume would be an import. Any idea? Thx!

PS: I looked for it in your online store, but I don't see it available.

  4. @tony: thank you for supplying info in my absence...dang, internet is still not ubiquitous or cheap around here

@DianeG: I'm sorry, I may not understand your question...do you want to buy the Crooked CD and the book too? And also Rat Girl? If so, first of all, let me just say a heartfelt, "thank you".

You're interested in buying all 3 from Amazon (US), is that right? If so, here's the deal:

The Crooked book won't be available at Amazon (US) for another few weeks...it's being sold as an import only and they don't have their supply.

Rat Girl won't be out until Aug 31.

Crooked CDs will probably be available here in our online store long before they appear in standard retail outlets.

Is you're wanting the Crooked book right now, the Book Depository is still your best deal...at last check it was $13 (US) with free shipping (!)

Thank you again for all the support...

    xo

  5. I have a question regarding the Crooked book.

If I buy the book from an online vendor, like Amazon or Book Depository, is there a way to get the download code for the album before the physical item arrives?

I live in Argentina, and mail orders from USA usually take long to arrive.

My point is that I find it a bit ironic that when what I'm ultimately buying is a digital download of an album, I will still have to wait for a physical object to arrive through snail mail to be able to get it.

It would be interesting that the code was made available as soon as it's purchased. I know that with 3rd party vendors you can't control that sort of stuff, but it would be an interesting thing to implement for your sales.

  6. I actually want to buy the book+ version of Crooked, Rat Girl (I *hate* that title), and Cats and Mice. Thx!

  7. The code is a password that's cunningly concealed in the book (and a very lovely password it is, too). Maybe someone could email it to you.

  8. @Fdruid: email me...I'll take care of you.

  9. got the book, is lovely, as is music - but where on earth are the sample chapters from paradoxical dressing on the site?this was the main reason i got it, and had hoped they would be part of book as well...

  10. Liam,
Somewhere on here Billy has posted that there are contractual issues with the publisher; but these are being posted and some extracts will appear in the not too distant future.

  11. For the record, I just learned that Book Depository doesn't ship to Argentina.

  12. "Wow, just been to the Strange Angels Page - new Crooked downloads everywhere - brilliant!"

Yes, I noticed that. I've been downloading some of the stems and having fun remixing (all good mixing practice!) although some of the results bear little resemblance to the originals, but then that's half the fun - seeing what you can do with things. It's really nice to have that opportunity. I think Peter Gabriel might have been the first to do it but I am not sure he still offers stems.

  13. Got book! :)

  14. Just received my copy of the book, which, of course, prompted me to blast the album. Such a beautiful piece of art... I feel so lucky to be right here, right now.

  15. It's available in Waterstone's Jervis (if you're a Dublin northsider and don't want to trek all the way over to Dawson Street). It took me ages to load all the details onto our system and then order it in, and JUST as I had done that, I see that the UK edition will be available in (early) 2011. Now I'm not sure if we should be selling it (legally, that is). Anyway, we have a couple left and should be able to order more if anyone wants one. I haven't bought my copy yet, but it looks brilliant (both in terms of its jacket and the content).

  16. Just got back off my jollies and my copy has arrived courtesy of Amazon.co.uk

Now need to make time to read it!

  17. I must have been drunk when I posted the previous entry - in the wrong thread - I was of course referring to the Rat Girl book - sorry!!

  18. I got "Crooked" in the mail today. What a beautiful book! Both visually and to read. It got me even more excited about listening to "Crooked" the CD! I'm absolutely thrilled Kristin wrote this and "Rat Girl"!

  19. Got the book today, very nice, but wheres the key code inside?

  20. @krispy: It's somewhere at the beginning of the book. The "Code" is a couple of words from specific chapters of the book. I was looking for some sticker with an random key (you know the ncur634tjjf8e# kind) at first as well.

  21. krispy you need to to go to K's Crooked page at Cash which is HERE. In the BOOK LOGIN section it tells you how to get the 2 words you use as the password.
    Iain.

  22. Refernce to where the "passowrd" can be found is made on the very last printed page, after the story.
