  1. Hey, Billy!

It's been quite a few weeks, but I still haven't gotten the Crooked CD.

Is it still on it's way, or will it be available for download soon?

  2. Hi Conski,

It's mailing...in stages...Europeans first, then USA peeps, this week from Minneapolis. It will be there...I swear.

It won't be available for download until release date in July.

  3. Will the Crooked CD be available to purchase in the Kristin online store soon? Or at some point?

  4. Is this one of those cases where Canada has *conveniently been annexed by the U.S.?

  5. For those who haven't heard (or those who aren't Strangels), Crooked was made available to subscribers for download/streaming today.

    And it is wonderful.

  6. indeed it is. Thanks guys!

  7. I started listening today but stopped after a few teasing seconds. I am holding out for the actual CD. How old-fashioned AM I?

  8. Old fashioned? I still think side A and side B! I think we are the same age?
And I'm like so totally not old fashioned. ;)

  9. heh. You might be younger (i'm 36).

I've got a box of tapes and no tape player. I've been thinking of getting one of those USB things to digitise all the stuff I have on tape. Maybe one day.

  10. Crap! The files can't be read by my Mac.

  11. @conski - your mac doesn't read mp3s?

  12. It's the zip file it's not able to open.

There usually no problem with the downloads.

  13. Just get Stuffit Expander...it's free and handles .zip files perfectly.

  14. I have all that. It says it's a "PC Zip Archive".

I'm trying the Flac file now, so I'll see if that one works.

  15. OK, it worked.

  16. Awesome!

  17. Now I finally have Crooked on my iPod!

    Yay!

  18. Sounds excellent. This is a much more complete, cohesive collection than I thought it was when I first listened to the stream. Admit it: you added some magic sprinkles some time during the last few months. Great, great work. Thank you.

  19. Yay indeed for having the completed Crooked on my iPod. I also streamlined everything and put all of the files on disc before moving the other songs into another album. I called it Speedbath, and the track list was Morning Birds, Around Dusk, Gin, Elizabeth June, Opiates, Static, Bamboo, Speedbath, Quick, Slippershell, Bliss and Torque, but my iPod jumbled it up for some reason, so it's now Gin, Opiates, Bamboo, Quick, Bliss, Morning Birds, Around Dusk, Elizabeth June, Static, Speedbath, Slippershell and Torque - and it really works, so yay!

I am, of course, enjoying both albums immensely :-)

  20. Flooding will bring tears to your eyes. Thanks K!

  21. wow. the guitar interlude in the midst of Rubidoux....wow!

  22. I love this from start to finish. At my friend Mikel's suggestion, I downloaded the highest quality files and listened to them on my super jacked up headphones- OMG. The sound engineering is amazing... Fortune especially just seems to have amazing layers under the crunch of the chorus. I am so anxious to have the book in my hands! I do hope we see some of the songs that didn't make it used in some capacity again. Particularly Around Dusk, which was always one of my favorites. And I remember a tweet about Rob playing drums on it, which to me is just not fair that I know about it but can't hear it!!!

  23. I haven't yet been able to listen to all of Crooked, but yes, Flooding was my favourite 'demo' before - so haunting, so beautiful.

  24. I was listening to "Crooked" today and thinking the exact same thing, Muttley. I am a huge fan of what I came to think of as "BillyO's Haunted Piano Version"... It moves me in ways that the guitar version only seems to hint at. (Apologies for this, probably the worst attempt at writing in English that you'll see this week.)

(Oh, by the way, happy belated birthday, Mr. O.)

  25. Thanks so much for making this download available! While I appreciated and listened to the stream, downloading lossless files, burning a CD, and then playing the whole "album" on my "stereo" was like hearing it for the first time! Gorgeous!

@MagicJim: That must be it. "Magic sprinkles"!

@Billy or Tine: Having only recently acquired a computer that wasn't powered by hamsters, I've just started with FLAC files. I had no problem downloading the "Crooked" folder, the "50FOOTWAVE" folder, or the "Series 2" tracks individually, but when I try the "Speedbath" folder, I end up with a tiny .zip file with nothing in it?

Can't wait to see the digipack CD, and especially the book!

  26. Whoa...I just got my copy of Crooked in the mail! What an awesome surprise! Thanks B + K!

  27. @Dim: Yay...Right on! You're the first we've heard from!

  28. Still waiting for mine.

And though I am an old fashioned music product kind-a-guy, I could not resist the Strange Angels download, and am crushed by the weight of this recording. I was so curious how Crooked would end up after all the demo's and versions and songs I have been listening to these last months, and all I can say is that once again Kristin has made a record that wraps its brilliance around my ears and pushes its humid, sticky self into the heart of me.

Thank you , thank you, thank you.

Hopefully it will come in the mail soon. Not sure when the European Angel packages were sent, but I'll keep a look out.

  29. @dlevans: If it makes you feel better, I just got mine yesterday and I could practically step out my front door, throw a rock, and hit the town from which the package was mailed. So I'm sure all the other Angels will be seeing their packages soon!!

  30. Got my copy today and it's in the stereo right now!
