That reminds me... about 10 years ago, maybe, I had broken the hinge on my glasses. I was unemployed so I didn't have insurance, and it worked fine with a safety pin and some masking tape. I went in for a pre-interview at a placement agency. We talked about my skills and what I was looking for, and then the woman asked me if I could get my glasses fixed before she sent me on the actual interview. I had completely forgotten they were busted. I joked that it just screamed "geek," which was appropriate since it was for a Unix systems admin job... but I got some super glue and a new screw for the hinge. Then I got vision coverage.
