  1. Heya folks,

What a beautiful evening yesterday in Handelsbeurs. This is only the third time I've seen TM after '92 or '93 in Providence and 2003 in Brussels, and I can only concur that this is the band at their best and fiercest. Dave and Bernie are so tight that it defies words, famously seen in Mexican Women (Kristin:

    We're scared of this song
    ).

My personal favourites were slow, grinding songs like Speed & Sleep, Limbo, but especially Furious. The beautiful thing about TM is how you can rediscover their songs after each new rendition. After listening to Seasons, I was obsessed with Flying and Ellen West, and after yesterday's gig I guess I'm becoming obsessed with Furious. Kristin's vocals were just amazing.

And of course Mania in the end does bring the house down.

So, anyway, the setlist is here. We got a second encore, Devil's Roof and (surprise!) White Bikini Sand.

    Merch: T-shirts have arrived!

What a privilege it was to see this band, who are such brilliant musicians, but remain lovely nice people, as loyal to their fans as they are to them. Do you know of any other band that issues a 25-year compilation and in the same year records a new album with 38 new songs? I tried to get them to play Sunray Venus, but alas, no. That one will have to stay for the next time.

Y'all must go and see this show. No excuses!

  2. ooh, hitting the ground running with Shark in 1st position now? awesome.

I *LOVE* that they've added White Bikini Sand, I saw part of it at sound check in Athens and it's a coooool rendition. I wished for it to be part of the set, glad to see it's made it's way in. Now I just need someone to videotape that for me so I can experience the whole thing ;)

The rediscovery of songs over time is one thing I love. They are gifts that keep on giving and often, they will surprise you when you least expect it.

  3. I agree 100% with Staki. "Limbo" sounded massive, I loved that.

It was good to see TM again. I could spend many hours just watching Dave & Bern play.

  4. Wonderful pictures by Pieter Verhaeghe:

  5. Under The Gun? I know they played it out in 2009, but still. God. How I would kill to hear Spain played with a full band

  6. I want to see dave "swimming with fucking dolphins"

I'm assuming that GUN, is BYG, not Under The Gun , that was played on the 2009 tour? Stupid question, course it is.

I would die to hear say, Spain given the full band treatment.

  7. Yes, it was "Bright Yellow Gun".

  8. Some very nice videos from the show are now on youtube:
    Speed And Sleep
    Bright Yellow Gun
    Hazing
