Just realised it's 15 years since the release of Kristin's first solo album. Thought this would be a very nice idea for a Kristin Hersh retrospective CD (dare I say 'best of') and would be a great introductory CD to people new to her. It would also be great to release a single, something admired and very popular but which never got it's moment - 'Your Dirty Answer' springs to mind.

The theme could be furthered: 15 tracks on the CD, maybe 15 shows to support the release and 15 of something else?!? I know these things take a while to go through production, but it could come out next year, and as 4AD released all the albums (here anyway) it surely shouldn't be a nightmare in terms of paperwork.

Perhaps this could work as a twin pack with K's new Speedbath release? Or an additional CD of rarities and acoustic versions to keep the hardcore fans happy?

Regardless, it's a long stint of consistently good stuff that I think should be commemorated in some way. Perhaps just a re-release of the original album?

thanks Tony, I'm a longtime lurker and was a member of TMO but never got round to re-registering as I'm a bit busier these days. Followed the thread on TM but I think since there's already been 'In a Doghouse' it'd be quite nice to have a KH compilation in advance of another muses one.

    Petrolboy! Welcome back!

I couldn't agree with you more. If ever there's been an album that deserved deluxe repackaging, it's "Hips," eh? We've been spoiled with so many demos and whatnot, I'm not sure what could be included. But it's certainly worthy of something.

Thank goodness that album came out in the first place. Before it did, ours was a one-K fan household. I pushed Throwing Muses way too hard on Kelly, just as I had the Pixies before them. She dug in her heels and refused to listen to them. But when I begged her to give K's solo work a chance, knowing it was more up her alley, and K's in-store to promote "Hips" at Virgin Records in Newport Beach, a fan--probably a bigger fan than me, even--was born on the spot. And the rest is history.

    Fifteen years, hunh? Wow...
