  1. I should be in Holmfirth for about 7:00/7:30, best place to park is in the supermarket car park (Sainsbury's I think??) off Huddersfield Road - it's free on an evening.

I am heading to The Nook...link here...

It is a bit 'worse for wear' but the beer is good and music lovers always head there.

I'll be there with my brother, I plan to wear my XXXL Eric Cantona shirt - sardines, seagulls and trawlers on the front!

Hope to see some of you there.

  2. Wow!!!!!

Absolutely excellent, good crowd, I'd say 7/8ths full
Met ex-Fall musician Ding in The Nook before the gig, he was going to see TM with his wife.

    I think that's right

  3. Nice view from the balcony too. Another wonderful show--but, could it ever not be?

  4. Just got home after bus to Huddersfield, train back to Manchester and night bus home - and thoroughly happy with tonight's show, as I tweeted earlier.

An excellent show all round and a great little venue - a lot of us were discussing how intimate the venue was but also the sound man did an excellent job - it sounded clear and really gave freedom to flow between instruments for me, so thoroughly enjoyable. It was nice to hear White Bikini Sand again, although this time Mania was the highlight for me, the anger in Kristin's voice came across loud and clear and with me being left side I could see it in her face as well as her voice. Yaay.

I'm definitely going to head back there for another gig sometime - well worth the effort.

  5. Excellent gig, after being a fan for 18 years my first live Muses experience and it did not disappoint.

The second half of the gig really seemed to take off with both the band and the great crowd seeming to go up a few gears. Nice to see the place nearly full and very loud and appreciative. You could tell the band were enjoying it up there and from a brief chat with them afterwards that was confirmed. Thanks to the band for signing my Anthology too :)

Strange location for a gig but as Warren said i would go back again in a heartbeat, though i drove from Manchester as the bus/train option looked a right pain!?

Roll on Manchester, Club Academy is a far better venue than Academy 2 so it should be a cracker.

  6. My review of the gig is here along with my friends photography http://www.withguitars.com/live-review-throwing-muses-at-holmfirth-picturedome/

  7. Great night all round. Ace venue, sound and gig. Good sesh in bar after (Cumbria rocks). Got to say Nora Battys steps were a bit of a let down tho :-p

  8. I took some photographs. Not earth-shatteringly brilliant but I hope I've picked out some nice ones.

  9. Blue Straggler, I think those are pretty damn good! :)

  10. A very fine set of photos, I'll be delighted if mine are anywhere close, haven't been home to unload them yet. Exhilarating gig, lovely venue with Timothy Taylor's ale on draught and meeting friends old and new - sorry I missed you Mr Straggler.

  11. Hi Alan, yeah missed everyone due to having accidentally left my phone behind in the tent. TENT?! you ask....oh yeah, living the festival experience. In November. Raaar.

  12. Camping in November is impressive, Sunday night was bloomin' cold.

My Holmfirth set is here, I didn't take my camera to the Academy.

  13. This show is now up on DIME...
