  1. ZOMG! I just got home from her show and it was amazing!

She played a lot of Sunny Border Blue and older songs (including Fish!) and read a lot from Rat Girl (which is hilarious).

I finally got to find out what happened to her missing foot after she got hit by that witch.

Before the encore, I ran to the corner in front of the door where K was waiting and introduced myself. She so little and cute and sweet! I stupidly asked if she could play Candyland or Clark's Nutcracker ~ even though it was clearly a scripted show. Sorry about that, guys!

The most adorable moment was when she forgot the first line of Gazebo Tree, even though she's sung it in almost every show she's ever played... lol!

Thank you so much for that amazing experience.

  2. Just coming here to say what an amazing show that was. Absolutely loved the format and Kristin's performance was nothing short of stunning. Could have listened to that all night long.

Thanks Kristin and Billy for putting on such an incredible show!

  3. ^what they said -- it was a lovely performance and i wish you all could have been there!

  4. Conski, I love hearing stories like yours, including the details. Those of us who've had the good fortune to spend a bit of time around Kristin over the years sometimes forget or at least take for granted what a special, dynamic person she is. Thanks for reminding us. Your reaction reminds me of my own the first time I met her way back when. Magic.

It also reminds me how long it's been since I've seen the woman. Way, way too long. Thanks to you all for sharing for that reason, too...

  5. It was actually my first time seeing her live.

I have a million live recordings, but being in the same room is whole different ball of wax!

  6. Can't say it any better than conski. Last night's show was phenomenal. The format with the stories and music takes the *conceptialization* of song and attaches it to real moments in time. All going to the Rubin are in for a treat...The UK peeps are gonna go nuts. Too bad you have to wait til July.

  7. I'm so glad you guys were there. It was a fun "first time" for that kind of reading/playing show...and you helped so much!

Conski, don't worry about the request...you had to ask. K always wishes she could just crack out whatever song someone wants to hear. She's just not made that way. And she can't play Candyland without breaking down, so that'd have been a long shot anyway.

  8. Billy, I didn't realize that Candyland was so tough for K. It's always been one of my favorites ~ probably because it's so quietly heartbreaking.

That's OK, Speed & Sleep was so great, it makes up for it.

Also, I overheard some fans outside saying that at first they were put off by the readings, but by the end they would have been happy if she'd read all night!

    You guys are the best!

  9. Also, how on earth did she flip through that book to find the text she was reading? The passages were all over the place in her timeline, and she just found every one without missing a beat (and I couldn't see any bookmarks from where I was sitting).

Oh, and what guitar was she playing?

  10. It's the Collings--the guitar that love built! You can see it up close & personal in those three "thank you" song videos.
