  1. The UK's Ticketline is selling tickets for a show entitled 'Bob Harris presents Kristin Hersh', at Liverpool University on Saturday July 17th. Does Bob know something we don't - or has he merely been polishing his crystal ball?

  2. I've seen that show advertised myself on Seetickets too, but till BillyO or Kristin make any official announcement on the tour dates, I'm going to wait.

Liverpool at least wouldn't be that far to go though, so here's hoping.

  3. I hope this gets confirmed, Liverpool is not too far away.

  4. I reckon the fact that tickets are on sale pretty much makes it confirmed?

  5. check out Bob's homepages

    the man is a legend

  6. It was on Bob's show The Old Grey Whistle Test that I first heard the Throwing Muses; as they say...the rest is history

  7. Yay, ordered my tickets for the Liverpool venue today from ticketmaster :)

  8. I got an email from Seetickets to inform me that the venue's been moved to the Liverpool O2 Academy 2. It's actually nearer Lime Street Station and is right next to the O2 Academy on Hotham Street.

    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=liverpool&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Liverpool,+Merseyside,+United+Kingdom&ll=53.408777,-2.97693&spn=0.001244,0.002411&z=19&layer=c&cbll=53.408849,-2.976991&panoid=TObc8QON6BmmIAf6PXLEQQ&cbp=12,135.69,,0,5

The O2 Academy2 entrance is round the side, if I remember, but it's part of the same building.

  9. Whoa. News to me. I'll have to find out what's going on there...

    B

  10. Any more news on this? I went to See Tickets earlier to order my tickets and noticed the venue had changed.

  11. yes, definitely been posted on the O2 Academy website - http://www.o2academyliverpool.co.uk/

  12. Ents 24 is also showing that the show at Mountford Hall has been cancelled and moved to Liverpool O2 Academy.

I vaguely recall reading somewhere that O2 Academy had taken over the running of Mountford Hall on behalf of the Student's Union, which may explain the switch. It would have been nice of them to have informed Kristin & Billy, though.

  13. Billy,

I do agree that it would be nice if you were informed of the venue change. I thought that once I got an announcement that I'd share with everyone, as it might mean others that are going could have had issues finding the venue.

Part of the move might be because the Eve Selis Band are playing the hall, and maybe they needed a smaller (or larger) venue than the O2 Academy. The only advantage of the move is that it's a nice intimate venue (saw Ben's Brother there a few years back) and it's closer to the city centre, so possibly win win there.

  14. I just received a new contract for the date(!) Always the last to know...

Seriously though, these days, information travels faster than paper, so often times I actually am the last to know.

Intimate is good. We'e really looking forward to the show.

    xo

  15. Billy

It is a better venue for people using public transport as it is next to Lime Street station - regular Manchester trains and all. I've only been once before to see The Fall; it is all standing.
Trying to remember the pub we met in before...I'll come back with that info, The Lord something or other rings a bell??

  16. It was the Lord Warden, details here...
    http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/38/38061/Lord_Warden/Liverpool
...it is only a hundred yards or so from the venue.

Me and my brother will probably get there for about 7:00 - assuming K will be on at about 8:30.

You are all very welcome to joing us.

  17. Hey Folks,
The nearest pub is next door to the venue. It's the Lord Nelson. (Well done Altfish good memory.)
The Academy 2 is the same venue K played with 50 Ft wave a few years ago and is indeed intimate.
For anyone arriving by train to Lime St, turn right out of the station and take the first right up Lord Nelson St. You will see the Pub 100yds up on the left.

Safe journey to you all, see you there.

  18. Hi Superfurry

Is it the Lord Nelson or the Lord Warden?

  19. Does this mean a pre-gig meet up in the Lord Nelson then? Might be nice to do :)

  20. That sounds like a plan, just need to confirm if it is the Lord Nelson or the Lord Warden.
The Lord Nelson seems to be a hotel...
    http://www.lordnelsonliverpool.com/default.asp?pagekey=1
...looks a bit 'posh' for my tastes!

  21. I wish is it was in my power to pack up an fly off to the UK in July....

  22. come on Heather, its not far, I'll buy you some port! :)

  23. Sounds like a plan, we are in Southport early in the day but will try get to the pub before 8. Do you think wispering bob will be at the gig..... an icon indeed! Billy / K better bring some rain coats... summers ended, at least in North Wales ;-(

  24. "Bump"

I'm planning to be in the Lord Waldren, details here...
    http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/38/38061/Lord_Warden/Liverpool
    ...at about 7:00

If the space is available and my mind is correct, when you enter the pub there is a raised area to the right, sort of behind the door. I'll be there with my brother.
Not a clue what I'll be wearing some sort of t-shirt and probably shorts. I'm a 55-year old bloke.

Hope to see/meet some of you.

    Mike

  25. "Bump"

For some reason my previous post didn't go to the top when I bumped it????

  26. I and some new(ish) recruits will be driving down from Glasgow, having just secured tickets today. For two of them, it will be their first time ever seeing Kristin. I doubt we'll be down in time to see anyone in the pub, but if you see a skinhead in a Ted Leo t-shirt, that'll be me. Come and say hi.

And Billy - I know this may be cheeky, but since K couldn't manage Snake Oil in Glasgow last time due to the horrendous thumb thing, can I beg pretty please that she does it this time? For the three out of the four of us who have heard it, it's a top three song. I'll even buy you both a beer.

  27. What's the ale like at the Lord Nelson?

  28. Grief, it was two years ago since I've been in; I'm pretty sure they had handpumps beers on (I wouldn't have stayed long if they hadn't!)but can't for the life of me remember what it was.

  29. Snakeface? K says, "Sure!"

  30. Snakeface is great and I'd be delighted to hear it. It was actually Snake OIL I was really hoping for though. :-p
