  1. Sorry for posting this here, Billy, but HOLY CRAP! I literally JUST heard this for the first time, and I am utterly and completely friggin' blown away. I just keep listening to it over and over again, and it's a little bit wonderful to know that I can still find new-old Kristin stuff that is this super good. Seriously. I cannot believe that this song only ever saw the light of day via the WIP series. This has definitely made me feel like I need to purchase all of the WIP's urgently, and it also has me totally convinced that Kristin is just constantly writing ridiculously awesome and amazing songs all day, every day, and the stuff that we know about is only, like, a third of it. She is, isn't she?! Of course she is. Ride the bus to heaven, indeed.

given the opportunity to talk about "great lost songs", i would like to urge kristin on the possibility of looking back (something i know she doesn't like doing so much) and record the great "Blessed" in the studio as a CASH track. i love the feel of that song, the guitar line, the lyrics... everything.

I second this many times over. 2 tracks I always wanted to hear a finished version of were Blessed and Hungry. Blessed sounding like it was ready to rock out with some Throwing Muses. Hungry was on the cusp, a Sunny Border Blue production, or a full band version swaying from a dark bass opening and crunchy guitar bridge. I love those two songs and would love to know if they were ever officially recorded, or in the case of Blessed, even if just a demo of the song exists beyond the live version.

I'm a lover of 'No hard feelings' too. Such a shame it's never been an official release. I also really liked the 'punky version' of Teller that the Muses did on a radio show once - that'd be great as a re-visit too.

A new Cash track every month must be a bit of pressure for Kristin, and I'm sure other people would like a re-worked track thrown in here and there.

No hard feelings is one of my favorite songs of all time... i just love that "i've got quarters in my hand, doing backflips for a man" part... gets me everytime. thanks for reminding me to re-visit the song!

Is there somewhere a mp3 floating of the song Blessed? In some kind of live version? I have never heard of the song and like to hear it.

  8. it's funny, I just posted something recently asking about "Blessed" and "Somewhere In America". I do think it would be an interesting project for Kristin to look back and maybe re-work and release some older stuff, especially these rarities. Of course she's so busy with everything else... but it's just a thought. Those "bonus tracks" on the In A Doghouse compilation are a great example.

But seriously, I still can't believe that "No Hard Feelings" didn't make the cut for an official release. It's such a good song. Though I do see how it may have seemed out of place among the other Sky Motel-era tracks. But it sounds like it could have even been included on Sunny Border Blue.

Thank you jediroller, what a great song!
I thought I had almost every song she had written, guess I was wrong...
Did have "No Hard Feelings" for a while, on the works in progress part 1.
It was an outtake of the Strange Angels album.
    Thanks again, this is great!

well, in fact the recording of "No Hard Feelings" that appears on WIP 1 is from the 'Sky Motel' sessions, though Kristin said that she had tried to record it several times since the 'Strange Angels' sessions on the text that came with the mp3.

I did not know that Silverfrown. You are right, it says in the PDF that it was a 'Strange Angel' outtake. Where did you hear that it actually was from the 'Sky Motel' sessions?

  12. oops. I don't have the text, I just assumed that it was from the Sky Motel sessions because of the sound of it, and the fact that the only other bedroom demos of KH songs on that compilation were from Sky Motel. I mean, it would definitely sound out of place on Strange Angels... I still think it should have been on Sunny Border Blue : )

    "No Hard Feelings
    Studio outtake - August 1998
"No Hard Feelings" was recorded and re-recorded 2 or 3 times over the past few years. It was originally intended to be included on "Strange Angels", but just never seemed to fit in" with it's counterparts. Thankfully "Works in Progress" exists so songs like this can see the light of day. I've always wished I could simply record and "mail" my songs to people who wanted them...now I can.
    Love, Kristin"

'Strange Angels' was released early 1998, and 'Sky Motel' was recorded in August 1998. that and the sound of the production made me assume that it was an outtake from 'Sky Motel'...

  14. ah, yes, Silverfrown, that makes perfect sense! Based on this I'm assuming it was "originally intended to be included on 'Strange Angels'" but the actual WIP song was recorded for the 'Sky Motel' sessions.... Right?

That's interesting. I was sure it was a Sky Motel out-take too. I'm sure I read that somewhere as well. I remember at the time wondering why it didn't end up on the album as it didn't strike me as being too different, though obviously for Strange Angels it was far off.

It's good to know others like it too - hopefully it can re-appear somewhere.

Thanks jediroller - listening to Kristin's solo concert reminded me what a great song "Speed and Sleep" is - awesome.

I'd like to hear "No Hard Feelings" - is this available anywhere?

    Posted 8 months ago #
  17. it's on one of the Works In Progress collections... It's also available as a "free download" for strange angels as part of the Works In Progress sampler
