I am almost done reading the book and it is an amazing insight into Kristin's POV regarding life and the band. Has anyone offered interest in possibly filming the book as a movie?

Thank you for giving the book your time and attention. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Yes, there is a film agent actively pursuing the sale of the film rights. Of course, this means nothing in terms of a film ever actually being made. But you never know!
Very cool!
OK, who would play Kristin?
Difficult question, especially as she was only 18 when she wrote it. Most of the current crop of actresses are in their mid twenties.
But I would think someone like Ellen Page or maybe Mae Whitman?
Ellen Page would be such a perfect choice. I've always thought there was a notable resemblance between her and Kristin, and she's a terrific actress to boot.
Though, chances are it would take at least a few years for a movie like this to go into production, by which time she might be a little old for the part.
Don't know her name but the blond girl (sam) on ICarly. Hey I"ve got a ten year old daughter.I don't watch it on my own.
Paul
Thora Birch? Too old now?

It would be absolutely awful if Ellen Page played the part like she played her parts in many of her movies (like Juno): "I'm soooooo interesting and angsty, don't you just think I'm so coooooool?? Everything that comes out of my mouth is sarcastic, I'm soooo cool!"
Ha, yeah I know what you mean. My pet hate with american actresses is the inability to use their diaphragm and project. Hence you get a kind of sqeaky croaky whine that comes from the throat and, similarly, sounds like actual speech is far too much effort.
My other option would be to employ a group of keen young unknowns who would actually just be grateful for employment and therefore more likely to deliver the goods.
No ego to promote
carey mulligan! carey mulligan! carey mulligan!
The little girl from "Let Me In" and "Kick Ass" - she is awesome and everyone says Kristin looks like she is 13 in the book.
I don't normally feel strongly about which actor should play who but I think Zoe Kazan is both a dead ringer for Kristin and talented enough to do her justice.
I don't know how to post links but I will try (sorry if I do it wrong):

So anyway forgetting the potential cast members, What about the format?
I already have this indie docu drama running in my head narrated by either K or "young Kristin" filmed on a hand held where we actually see & hear some of her songs forming around her, out of the environmental sounds that we all generally filter out as background noise. Say a snippet of Colder forming from a greyhound bus whooshing by. Or bits of guitar recreating the echoing alleyways?
I'm sure much of Trent Reznor's songs were formed after visiting a sheet metal work factory. I totally get the transformation of environmental sound into music. Thats about as natural a process as breathing.
i may have too much time on my hands.............
Hmmm...Zoe Kazan...I can see that. I usually think you guys are nuts with your suggestions...but not this one. I wonder if I'm feeling well.
Zoe Kazan was fantastic in 'The Exploding Girl'. If anyone hasn't seen it, check it out, I think it would appeal to a lot of those who are into Kristin's music. Its on DVD as of September.
It's streaming on Netflix....I'll give it a shot.
Ellen Page isn't American - she's from Halifax. Not that I'd suggest her for this, mind.
Well I like Ellen Page. People tend to go "ewww" because of her hipster-ish character in Juno, but that's just a character. She was positively creepy in Hard Candy.
A relative unknown would be much more feasible though.
To be clear - I don't mind Ellen Page either, I just didn't see her as "the young Kristin"
or Emma Watson.........

especially in these pics
The Kristin of Rat Girl is unaffected, a newcomer could really capture it.
