    Hi there,
Did any of you were a "Strange Angel" when Power+Light came out?
Which color vinyl did you receive? Or isn't 50 Foot Wave included with the Strange Angels?

Ouch. Gloomy, you've poked my sore spot.

The 50FOOTWAVE vinyl doesn't fall under the Strange Angel subscriptions. In my perfect world, it would - and I wanted very much to send all SA's the vinyl free. Sadly, the expense of this limited edition vinyl (only 1000 made, all in) made it financially untenable to offer.

I'll be honest with you, this makes me quite uncomfortable. I want Strange Angels to have EVERYTHING. They/you mean the world to us. But in this case, the hard costs were too great.

I'd be interested in hearing feedback from other SA's about this issue. I've been carrying it around with me for a few months now and it's getting kinda heavy.

I know i cant speak for every strange angel, but i totally understood this was around costs. The fact that the vinyl was available to us at all was a fantastic gesture. We get an amazing amount of music additional to what is out there already and the fact we have the opportunity to be strange angels and directly help fund things like studio time is awesome!, i wouldnt beat yourself up over it billy. Just a cheeky suggestion but how about a strange angels power+light wip? Now that i would love to hear!

Sorry Billy, it wasn't my intention to hit a sore spot here. I get it how that would be much to expensive, no worries.
Glad to hear brightyellowboi agrees and I think a lot of the Strange Angels will too.

    Billy,

As a SA myself, I have to admit to never even giving the P+L vinyl a thought as part of my subscription. I never expected it and didn't even think about it, really. I was pretty happy with my digital version!

Don't worry about stuff like this. You guys are always a fans-first operation - we all know that - and you provide plenty for subscribers and non-subscribers alike.

    Best,

    Dim.

No need to apologize...really. I'm grateful for your understanding of the economics at play here.

The money you guys donate goes directly to costs associated with Kristin's artistic life - meaning largely recording, but also in some cases, to pay life's bills and to allow her to stay focused on her art.

Quite simply, you're all keeping Kristin from having a "day job". You are her patrons, her sponsors, her label, her co-conspirators - as well as her audience. For that, she is eternally in your debt. She wouldn't be doing the work she does and certainly not keeping up the pace of her output without your support.

In case we haven't said it lately...Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

    Lots of love...

I agree with brightyellowboi and Dim. Never imagined the vinyl could be part of the subscription. And we got the lossless version for free, so who could complain?

Now, about that demo version of Power+Light...

At the risk of just creating noise with a "me too" post, I never expected for a minute to get vinyl of 50'Wave as part of my Strange Angel subscription. As jediroller said, I was very happy to have power+light appear for download (not to mention the entire freaking catalog!)

Me threeing, the same would apply to any potential future Throwing Muses works ...

There’s no hint in the SA deal of any involvement of Bernie, Dave or Rob so no need to feel the least bit sore Billy.

Given the title of this thread i’ve had to post because i’ve been meaning to ask about my subscription for a while. I was on dime-a-day and am still being direct debited (or whatever) at that rate. Since the exchange rate sucks (have a look at the AUD vs USD on the big mac index) and for myriad other reasons i can’t really afford to commit to the SA rate on a regular and indefinitely on-going basis.

So how’d this be for a deal: maintain the dime-a-day rate as a subscription option that has no hardware mailout or guestlist privileges? The only payoff being the warm glow of subscription - and maybe a health warning about how an offering to the hat might be needed to maintain essential universal balance anytime a download is played more than, um ... thrice?

Or are excessive bank fees on small transactions the reason dime-a-day was withdrawn?

I've no problem getting the vinyl separately - aside from the non-directly-SA-affected-involvement of the other band members mentioned, since vinyl is generally a much more 'boutique' product, I think making it an 'extra' for those interested/able to play vinyl is probably better business sense anyway. It's one thing to automatically offer something everyone can utilise, but vinyl is a bit above-and-beyond on that front I feel! So no sore spot here!

I am also being debited at the dime-a-day rate even though we got the email a while back of being switched to SA. I'm happy to pay the SA sub but thought it was going to happen automagically.

"Automagically" That's my new favourite word!

Billy, we get plenty of free stuff as Strange Angels, don't give it ALL away!
We give to sustain and see and hear K - happy, healthy and creating what she needs to, to survive.

Shythylacine, you can have my 'plus one' at the next Melbourne tour!

    Rock on all!

I would not expect hard copies in general to be included in my SA subscription. An occasional package in the mail is nice surprise, but honestly I would rather my money was used to keep K in the studio and on the road. To Cleveland. haha.

I totally forgot I was entitled to anything.... I became a strange angel just so Kristin could keep on producing the music.... $30.00 a quarter is nothing for what we get in return. If I want the material things, I'll buy them additionally. Thanks again

Having never been one of the cool kids, I have to ask - is "strangel" pronounced with a hard or soft g? My instinct leads me to a hard g...

Not one of the cool kids either, but I reckon it's gotta be a soft g like the g's in both strange and angel...

agreed the root words point that way, but it's not how the reulting word scans to me, at irst glance (but then I had things like Strained Angles in my head)

It had never even occurred to me the Power and Light vinyl would be included in my subscription, and I think we get plenty for our money. In fact my only gripe about my experience as a Strange Angel is very trivial indeed.

Just chiming in... I also did not expect a vinyl P&L.

I consider my subscription to be helping one of my favorite artists create the work that I love.

Any "free" stuff is just gravy.

The subscriber page can be tricky to find--the place I always look for it is at the top of the CASH Music pages. Or here it is: link

This is a worry of mine...That because it is too costly to produce cds and give away to strange angel people. That you instead produce this type of limited vinyls that you can charge people for..is this the reason why there is no power+Light cd availble for purshase?

I actually think that people here get more well-being from knowing that you guys can make a living than getting everything for free...Let uploads and stuff be free, but please let us pay for cds...

But i am really not the one to talk since my cash payment thing went jiggy when i moved to the US. But i promise to resubscribe as soon as I have paid of all the money i had to borrow from my parents... I feel guilty all the time for not contributing...i hate money. or actually i love it, but money doesn't love me.

ok....by the way those NA songs sound like they belong on a TM album...Any chance of this?
