  1. saw some K tweets about not having the money to mix the muses record. and it seems to me as a community we pullled together once before and got K the guitar she needed.
If we knew how much the band needed then maybe we could all make a contribution to help make this album possible.

    it worked once before
    love to you all

  2. If it's needed, I'm in.

  3. I contributed to Tine's Special Club for this one to try and get this off the ground and I hoped that would do it.

I'm happy to do so again, just say the word.

  4. Hey Jenn- like Muttley said, back near Kristin's birthday in August I secured an "anonymous special person" who pledged to match donations to Kristin's tip jar, up to $3,000, as a sort of birthday gift to her, to help her finish the Muses record, or get in the studio with her new solo songs, or to make the new 50FOOT EP - basically to give Kristin the gift of music. We raised just under that $3K mark, and this "anonymous special person" still kicked in the entire pledge amount of $3K. (I'm sadly remiss in following up with each of the people who contributed during that time, unfortunately, but this is where we ended up)

It was pretty hard to organize in secret, one thing I struggled with was how to reach people who might be interested without acting like a solicitor...

  5. The tipjar is always welcoming....

  6. I'd be more than happy to contribute. Just tip us the wink, as it were.

  7. Tine, I think you did a great job by "secretly" getting our attention, and not coming off as a solicitor. I would like to know if the money was enough to complete the muses record or if it was put to another project.

  8. hey y'all
well now i feel truly horrible. did not mean to sound like i was trying to hustle money out of anyone. the first time round it was such a sweet and lovely idea. just wanted the band to know if they ever needed something they should not fear to ask. if it was taken outta context please forgive me, it was not my intention.
    love

  9. jenn,

Don't feel horrible! It's a wonderful idea! I'd love to raise more money for Kristin, because she's been so prolific and she's got so many songs that need to grow up and be recorded and shared. But I think she and Billy might kill me if I arrange that again :) But if anyone wants to donate on their own accord, as always, the tip jar is always here...

  10. It's a nice idea and it'd be good to know if it's not needed.
And aside from that, seeing as there's a bit of time between now and the release it'd be interesting to know if there's anything else needed to give the album a 'proper' release.
Off the top of my head…
It'd be great to have a single or two to get the album some airplay - is that something that takes extra funds? Does physical distribution become a possibility with extra funds (if relevant)? A video for one of the tracks? A short run of limited edition CDs?
Or, is there anything non-monetary that needs donating? Time/skills for promotion etc?

  11. I thought the only airplay "real" music got now was on college stations or on the internet. If they could get it on Pandora and get it to start linking to people's stations, that could be really good. No idea how that is done.

As for video -- any interest in another video contest? Or... I hear Michael Stipe is free now, maybe he could lend a hand somehow. :)

  12. Over here we still get (some) real music played, generally by BBC stations who can afford to play stuff that isn't necessarily mainstream. Thing is, it seems they'll only playlist singles and occasionally play the odd album track. As an example 'In Shock' got playlisted and got loads of airplay across a few weeks and as there was no single from Crooked, it got very little attention.
It's be a shame if the same happened to the new Muses album seeing as far as I'm aware (and that's probably not too far) it's not too expensive/difficult to organise a single release.

Michael Stipe's a good idea, perhaps we could get a re-recorded 2011 rock reboot of Your Ghost on the album??

  13. Hey Tine, is there an update on this?

I know people have financial constraints, and especially at this time of year, but I'm only too happy to contribute more if needed - I figure I owe it to Kristin and Billy for the Strangel tickets that enabled me to take in the Glasgow Throwing Muses show, if nothing else.
