Throwing Muses Mixing New Listener-funded Record

Throwing Muses is in the process of mixing their new record, which, for now at least is coming in at 38 songs(!)
This one is entirely listener-funded thanks to Kristin’s subscribers (Strange Angels) and other generous contributors via CASH Music.
Some of you may have seen the band’s raw video studio feed, from one of their sessions earlier this year. Here’s one of the clips:

I have a good feeling about this. It’s really tempting to listen to the raw clips now, but I think I’ll wait until after hearing the finished album.

oh, i wouldn’t worry too much about that…you can barely make out the songs in the background. these videos are more about the work being done…and sharing what it’s really like for the band to work together in the stable.

but, up to you, of course!

I’ve always loved the sound of Throwing muses, the craftsmanship and attention to detail how everything is put together so uniquely it’s almost
like you have to be one of those old ppl that say, “sure don’t make ‘em like that anymore, sonny” *cough* *wheeze* =P ..honestly didn’t
think I’d live to see the day another album came out, but if you guys are gonna wave that under my nose, of course I’m gonna grab @ it ;D.

Feel it deep down and then translate it into a music we can all understand with. I have love that stings for you guys- I can’t say enough good
things. Best wishes in all that you think, do and create together
    -only the best -Jonathan

  13. I am looking forward to when this comes out. I know that the day it comes out, I will buy both a digital download for my iPod to blast, and to get a physical copy to blast in my car when driving around. The Muses were part of the soundtrack of my life when I was growing up here in the college town of Urbana-Champaign IL, and will remain part of the soundtrack of my life. I love you Kristin, Bernard & Dave.

Just read about the listener funded project, Kristin, and I want to offer my support as well. How do I go about contributing to you all?

    Thanks!

    Brad

  18. BH says:

Never mind, I figured it out and gave my first contribution as payment for downloading those great demos you have posted at the site! I’m glad there is no middle-man label to suck up money rightfully belonging to you, the creative talent.

    Thanks
    Brad

  20. JA says:

A year later… Is this project dead in the water?

  21. BillyO says:

Dead in the water? Far from it! As newsletter subscribers and Forum readers know, the mix is done, the (now 32 song) record has been mastered and the book is being put together right now. Harper Collins is publishing the book and CD late this summer! The Strange Angel supporters are enjoying a live stream of the finished tracks now. We’re so looking forward to this one.

  22. Lieven Berghmans says:

    Kristin,

loved your music all my life, have seen almost all your shows in Belgium and can’t wait to buy the new

I echo what John said above and. . . I was in Boston when you guys broke out and I will always associate your sound with that city. It feels like the old days but sounds like tomorrow. I give thanks to you and Pixies for bringing it all back. Keep on rockin’ my favorite rock heroine.

  26. Chris says:

Great to see the news in USA Today that the book’ll be released December 3. Are you planning any sales of special or signed versions from the KH online shop?
